Just prior to going on Christmas Break, we received notification from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Regional Accreditation Office that the school’s application for candidacy to becoming an IB World School offering the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) has been approved:

Main/Taunus International School – Grundschule und Gymnasium in freier Trägerschaft is a candidate school* for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Main/Taunus International School – Grundschule und Gymnasium in freier Trägerschaft believes is important for our students.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

Achieving this candidacy school status is a major step towards becoming an IB World School and is proof that mt-is is well on its way in its efforts to establish its new upper secondary program/ Oberstufe.

To further assist in this effort, Dr. Vivian Papafakli-Strouza just joined the school’s staff as IB Diploma Programme Coordinator and Deputy Director for Program Development. She is a highly qualified educator and administrator with many years of work experience in international schools and will be a great asset. While her background is in French and Mathematics, her immediate focus will be program and curriculum development related to the school’s IBDP, IGCSE, and High School Diploma accreditation applications.
