How to apply

The Admissions process

We welcome applications for all grade levels from Toddlers’ (from 15 months old) through Kindergarten, Elementary School and Secondary School (up to grade 12). Pre-enrolments and reservations for all higher grades are also possible. We invite parents to visit our school for an interview before making a decision on a child’s acceptance.

How can parents apply for their child to be admitted to Main Taunus International School?

Parents receive information about the school and, following a visit if possible, complete pre-registration, medical, and application forms. Academic and disciplinary reports from previous schools are to be submitted. Parents must inform the school if there are any special needs requirements for a child and submit any educational psychologists’ reports or other relative documentation.

Applicants seeking entry into grades 6 or higher must also submit at least one letter of reference from a teacher from their current school (this requirement may be waived by the Director). Applicants seeking admission to grade 5 are not required to submit a reference.

The Director – or designee – may invite the parents (with or without the child) for a discussion before making a final decision regarding admission. The Director’s decision is final.

    Special educational needs

Parents must inform the school if there are any special needs requirements for a child and submit any educational psychologists’ reports or other relative documentation. The level of ability of a child, or any special (physical or educational) needs the child may have, plays a part in the admissions policy of the school. Generally, we welcome applications of students with special educational needs. However, if our program of education is not suited to the child or we do not have the expertise or capacity to deal with certain requirements, we cannot offer a place for the child. mt-is may have a limit on the number of children we can accommodate.

    Placement

There is no formal academic ability assessment for entry into mt-is. However, to ensure the proper placement of new students into our academic program, applicants may be required to undergo thorough placement testing in most academic subjects.

Candidates wishing to enter our school at the beginning of the academic year must have successfully passed the previous academic year at a different school and should have been promoted to the next grade level in order to enter this next grade level at mt-is. Candidates wishing to enter mt-is at any time after the beginning of the academic year, in order to be placed in a specific grade level, should either already be enrolled in the same grade level at their current school, or must be placed into this grade level at mt-is based on the results of their placement tests.

The school offers a limited number of scholarship places of up to 100%. Decisions regarding these will be made on a case-by-case basis to assist individual students who meet the award requirements.
